We believe in British meat

None of our meat is intensively reared, and, when it comes to top-quality meat, there really is no place like home, raised in the valleys of the Lake District we are breeding happy, healthy animals to the best of British standards, here at Woodhow Farm.

It’s important to us that you are able to support British farmers, and with that said we thank you, but it’s equally important that we offer you consistently good quality meat every single time in return.

At Woodhow Farm, when we say ‘Free Range’, we mean FREE RANGE!

Our animals’ welfare is paramount, and we know that happy animals happen to produce the most delicious meat around.

GOAT – British Naturally Reared & Free Range

Famous for Goats our emphasis here at Woodhow Farm, is on first-rate Goats, raised in a peaceful environment producing good quality, traditional products, farmed the old-fashioned way.

Our Boer Goats are a traditional South African goat, now recognised as a British breed.  A fine example of goat with good health qualities, and with the fat content low, good protein levels, the facts about eating Goat meat are true.

From Shoulders to Ribs and much more these are just some of the cuts that are available in our farm shop

SAUSAGES – From Free-Range, Rare-Breed British Pigs

Woodhow Farm Sausages are made from our own Rare Breed, Free Range Pigs. All the pigs are born and raised here on our farm here in Cumbria. They are all bred in woodland or open pasture and lead a free and happy life!

Here at Woodhow Farm we've gone back to basics concentrating on traditional pig rearing techniques that focus on creating happy pigs and therefore, a rather splendid sausage! We only use the leg and shoulder joints - effectively putting your Sunday Roast into our sausages! We use natural sausage skins and the meat content is approximately 85% - 95%.

By eating our sausages you are helping us to keep breeding pigs who are fighting their way back from extinction. Thank You.

PORK – Free-Range, Rare-Breed & British

Woodhow Farm is recognised for its rare breed pork principally because of the exceptional flavour our free range British Tamworth and British Saddleback pigs bring to the table.

As well as a wide range of sausages we produce all fresh pork joints. Our leg, shoulder and belly joints produce some of the best crackling that money can buy.

If you cannot see what you want on this list do, give us a call (Tel: 01946 726246) and we can personalise / individualise your order.

LAMB – Naturally Reared & British - Woodhow Farm

With now a variety of rare breed sheep on the farm, from Herdwick to Jacobs, raised on the Cumbrian fells and around our Tarn, we are well stocked with Spring Lamb and Mutton.

We can provide whole and half lambs as well as beautiful Noissette style lamb chops, a rolled shoulder or your traditional Sunday Leg of Lamb these are just some of the cuts that are available in our farm shop.

BEEF – Naturally Reared & British - Woodhow Farm

Well marbled, slowly matured and hung for at least 3 weeks, we believe our beef is some of the best in the United Kingdom.

We have now started our own Dexter herd here on the farm. The Dexter originated in the South Western region of Ireland. Like the Kerry, they are descended from the predominately black cattle of the early Celts. The breed's ability to adapt to varying and extreme climatic conditions makes it an ideal breed of cattle for the lakes.

Other Suppliers to our Farm Shop: Richard Wilsons is a local butcher and occasionally we are lucky enough to be supplied with British White Cattle.

They are all bred in woodland or open pasture and lead a free and happy life!

Here at Woodhow Farm we've gone back to basics concentrating on the poultry’s welfare that focus on creating happy hens, ducks and geese and therefore, a rather splendid egg!
